The Lord has blessed us greatly, our Sunday School class rooms are full, our sanctuary is nearly filled at both Sunday morning services, our parking lot is inadequate. We felt the need to seek land for further expansions to reach more people for God's glory. A Facilities Planning committee was formed and found 90 acres of land on Orders Road at a reasonable price per acre. L. H. Coleman was called to our church in July, 2002 to assist us in our capital stewardship program. Committees were formed, meetings scheduled, and visits were made to all members of the congregation to explain the program and lead us to discover God's will in relation to our personal stewardship. The emphasis of our giving is NOT EQUAL GIVING BUT EQUAL SACRIFICE. Our theme is PRESSING ON IN JESUS' NAME, in memory of our beloved deacon, Millard Parsons, who has gone home to be with our Savior. Our Capital Stewardship Campaign Victory goal is $1,200,000; our stewardship commitments are $1,214,110. To God be the glory, we exceeded our Victory goal. The down payment on the land was $150,000. With our Capital Stewardship contributions of $129,591 as of December 31, 2002, and some proceeds from the sale of the house on Kenny Lane, the Lord blessed us with the down payment. On Friday, December 13, 2002, our trustees signed for the loan on the Orders Road property in the amount of $1,515,000. Our monthly payments are $16,692. The mortgage is a 3 year balloon mortgage; part of our agreement with the bank is that we will plan to sell ½ of the land within the three year period and pay off the remaining balance on the loan. Pastor Jerry has appointed Dan Watkins, Les Clarke and Barbara Riley to research the feasibility of selling a portion of the land. With God's continued blessings and your continued Capital Stewardship commitments, our dream of a new building on Orders Road can be accomplished within the next few years. May we each pray, work and witness to others daily to accomplish His mission for our church. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective James 5:16 NIV. Alice Thompson |
